Offshore Deep Sea Fishing

Are you in need some serious Reel Therapy with a good potential of catching your trophy fish? Then this is the Sport Fishing Charter for you. This is not for the weak in stomach. It is a Reel adventure to the South or famous North drop off of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands to the best billfish & pelagic migratory fishing grounds in the Caribbean.

Are you ready to react quickly and reel your head off when a bull Dolphin Fish (Mahi Mahi) snatches your lure and leaps out of the water with acrobatic displays of flashing blue and chartreuse. Can you handle the attacking speed of the 'Rocket of the Sea', the Wahoo, as it rips the line off your reel making it peels and scream? Wahooooooooooo! Can you handle the double, triple, and quadruple headers when you get into a school of hungry torpedo Tuna in an eating frenzy? Will your arms and body hold up to a greyhounding majestic big Blue Marlin of 500+ lbs.? Can you land that majestic Sail Fish as it sails away from the boat with a fervent fight to shake the hook? If you are ready, then let's hit the deep dark blue waters off the Virgin Islands.

Reel Therapy has light and medium tackle onboard for you to pit your talent against the challenge of these powerful Deep Sea dwellers. Fishing methods will be trolling lures and dead bait, and when available, live bait is used to inspire thick schools to stick close to the vessel.

Inshore Fishing

Meander among the beautiful outer cays of St. John and St. Thomas, taking in the island vistas and the fish. Generally calmer seas and a more mellow Reel Therapy Sportfishing adventure, but a thrill all the same. Get those reels singing as you sportfish with light to medium tackle for sleek and slender Spanish and Cero Mackerel, feisty and hard fighting King Mackerel, the muscle of Jacks, boiling Bonito, razor sharp toothed Barracuda, the silver kings of inshore, Tarpon, and yummy Yellow Tail Snapper.

For effective fishing, our Captains use a combination of casting/trolling lures and dead/live bait to raise fish to the boat.

Inshore fishing in the Virgin Islands is fun for the whole family as this is the perfect sportfishing excursion for beginning and experienced anglers alike. Both will get plenty of gusto from these tropical inshore dwellers to test and satisfy. Non-anglers will enjoy the scenic island tour.

Private Island Tours

Reel Therapy may be built for fishing, but it sure is a lot of fun for laid back island touring/exploring as well. Having grown up in the Virgin Islands, Capt. Gene was fortunate enough to have the local waters and outer cays as his playground. He knows all the special out of the way nooks that you would never otherwise find. Tour these special emeralds of the sea on a private boat so that you can experience the real Virgin Islands that we know and love.

Wander through the turquoise seas and stop at secluded private uninhabited island beaches for lunch, a swim and perhaps some beach combing or island exploration. Or take a jaunt to the British Virgin Islands for lunch/cocktails at the Soggy Dollar Bar or Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke. The choice is yours, as this is your private island tour.

Important: For island tours to the British Virgin Islands please bring your valid passport in order to clear through BVI Customs.

Coral Reef Snorkeling Excursions

Okay, the truth is you just can't wait to get in the water and act like a fish yourself. Not only can you act like them, you can be surrounded by coral reef fish in all their color and glory. People say snorkeling in the Virgin Islands is like swimming in an aquarium. They're right, except its much bigger. There are a lot more tropical fish, and the coral is actually alive. See the waters page for information about coral reefs.

The Reel Therapy team truly enjoy sharing the beauty of the coral reefs and fish with our guests. You will delight in these clear warm shallow waters with vibrant underwater colors that will thrill and soothe away your worries. It's another world down there and you really shouldn't miss it if you've come all this way.

On your private Reel Therapy boat charter you will be able to snorkel away from the cruise ship crowds and really revel in the peace of your snorkeling experience. Your captain will take you to the best locations relative to the weather and sea conditions. Jill, your onboard naturalist will give you all kinds of interesting facts about the coral reef system and if you get beyond the fascination of the creatures below, you can identify species and read about their behaviors in our outstanding coral reef guide books.

Beginners and advanced are all welcome. Your crew are all CPR and safety certified. There are also life preservers onboard if you feel more comfortable with the extra buoyancy.

Combination of this & that

You can't decide, you just don't all agree, or you want to do everything. We can customize your charter to suit your whole group or all sides of yourself.

Combine some Inshore Fishing, with some Island Touring or Snorkeling. Clearly, the longer your charter, the more we can fit in.
The benefit of chartering a private boat is that our captains will work with you to plan a special day in the Virgin Islands that will make your family or group the most happy.

If planning on a trip to the BVI, fishing is in the USVI waters. Don't forget to bring your passports for customs clearance.

Location/Pick up-Drop Off Service

Reel Therapy is located at Compass Point Marina, about a 20-25 minute drive from downtown and 2-4 minutes from most East End resorts. For those that are driving and plan to meet the boat and crew at Compass Point Marina, the physical address is 6300 Estate Frydenhoj #22 (pronounced Free-den-hoy).

Directions:
Driving East from Bovoni Road (Road 30), the entrance driveway is just off of Road 32 on the right hand side, about 1000 ft. past the Food Center Supermarket. If driving West on Red Hook Road (Road 32), pass the town of Red Hook about 1.5 miles heading west, look for a traffic light at the top of a hill, decend down the other side of the hill and about 500 ft. on the left hand side look for roadside signs bordering the entrance road. Take a left and follow the road to the end where you will find the marina's parking lot on the left side before the entrance gate of Compass Point Marina.

Pick up and drop off service in St. Thomas/St. John - Please note that only the 28' Proline provides the pickup/drop off service in St. Thomas - you will need to take a taxi to the location of our 48' Custom. The chart below shows resorts and locations with facilities on both islands along with the fees for pick up/drop off service.

Cruise Ship passengers can opt to either take a taxi to Compass Point Marina or schedule for a pick up in down town, Charlotte Amalie or the Crown Bay area. Round trip taxi fare from Charlotte Amalie to Pirate's Cove Marina will cost approximately $20/person. Cost to have our 28' boat meet you downtown is $100. The pick up location for ships docking at Havensite is at the "360" Pier of Yacht Haven Grande Marina located adjacent to cruise ship dock. Crown Bay cruise ship passenger pick ups are at the Crown Bay Cultural Center Mall also adjacent to cruise ship dock.

Sportfishing Rendevous Charters...... Already out on a chartered bareboat or crewed Charter Yacht? Want to go Deep Sea fishing but don't have the means to get to the drop offs? If you are within the USVI waters of St. Thomas or St. John, we can do a Sport Fishing Rendezvous Charter with a pick up/drop off at your yacht's location. Free pick ups are offered to yachts that are anchored or moored on the Southeast, East, and Northeast coast of St.Thomas/Outer Cays and the Northwest, South and Southwest coast of St. John.

If we have a good day of catching edible species of fish, you can take back up to 20 lbs. of super fresh, just caught local fish, fire up the grill, and have a great tasting fish dinner that evening with plenty left over for additional lunches and dinners during your remaining charter.
